Bad Breath Clinic

Bad breath is a common complaint and one which can make the sufferer very self-conscious. It is caused by sulphides produced by bacteria harboured in the mouth. This problem can be addressed by thorough cleaning by the dentist or hygienist who will also highlight any particularly susceptible areas of your mouth, for example impacted wisdom teeth or a deep pocket in the gum.

Oral hygiene instruction will cover all aspects of effective tooth and tongue brushing and flossing and include where appropriate the use of more specific aids such as Tepe brushes which easily cleanse larger gaps. Your dentist or hygienist may also prescribe a mouthwash which will help eliminate the problem. In a small number of cases, bad breath can be caused by acid reflux from the stomach and your dentist may refer you to your GP if he feels this is the case.
