Skin smoothing treatments are a safe and effective way to tighten and firm your skin for a younger looking appearance. It’s all the rage in Hollywood and now it’s available to you, too!
By injecting the muscles in your forehead, between the eyebrows (frown lines) and next to your eyes (crow’s feet) with the muscle relaxant it will reduce the appearance of wrinkles and create a smooth look and feel.
I graduated from Queens University in 2006 and have worked in general practice ever since, starting at Monkstown Dental as an associate in 2007 and becoming a partner in 2011.
I enjoy the variety of general dentistry and in particular I have a keen interest in facial aesthetics as I love being able to help people feel more confident in their appearance.
One of the most rewarding times of my career was when I travelled to Ethiopia as part of a team to provide much needed dental care for children aged 4-18, an experience I will never forget and hopefully one that I will get the opportunity to do again in the future.
When I’m not working I love to spend time with my husband and two children. I also like keeping fit, cooking and binge watching box sets with my husband!
I don’t get my wrinkles treated to look younger, I just want to look like I still feel on the inside. I look less knackered, feel refreshed and feel more confident. Katie and Phil make sure it is subtle, I don’t want to look like I’m in a wind tunnel!! I do however smile when people tell me I’m looking well and they don’t know my little secret lol
The product is dissolved in a sterile saline solution and is injected with a very thin needle so you might feel a slight tingling sensation during the procedure but otherwise it’s nearly painless and only takes a few minutes.
No. In fact, muscle relaxants have both a therapeutic and preventative effect on wrinkles. If you stop the treatment, the wrinkles will gradually become visible again but they will be just as they were before you had the treatment.
The effects of the treatment takes three to five days after the injection to become noticeable and are at their peak after about 14 days. The entire effect last about 3 to 6 months so if you wish to extend the effect the treatment must be repeated. Also, if treatment is repeated before the effect is completely gone, it will ultimately last longer.
Muscle relaxant treatments have been used safely for many years, licenced in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The long-term effects are well known. However, despite its safety, it is very important that it is administered by a qualified physician.
